Trump claims that US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict is "possible."

Although the US is not involved in Israel's military attacks against Iran, President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that "it is possible we could get involved."

This follows rumors that Israel had called on the United States to intervene in Iran's war in order to end its nuclear program.

Trump refused to address whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally urged the United States to become more involved in the conflict in an interview with Rachel Scott of ABC News.

"We have nothing to do with it. We might be able to become involved. However, we are not currently involved," the president stated.

Trump also revealed that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a long time on Saturday, mostly about the Middle East crisis.

According to ABC News, the president would be "open" to Putin's proposal to act as an intermediary between Israel and Iran.

"I would be willing to consider it. [Putin] is prepared. He gave me a call about it. We discussed it for a long time. We discussed this more than his predicament. "I am certain that this issue will be resolved," Trump said.

Steve Witkoff, the president's special envoy, was scheduled to visit Oman on Sunday for additional nuclear negotiations with Iranian officials. But Iran canceled the meeting after Israel's bombings. Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, referred to the nuclear talks as "unjustifiable" following the strikes, which he claimed were carried out with American assistance.
