After recovering from an injury, Caitlin Clark scores 32 points as the Indiana Fever defeat the New York Liberty for the first time this season.

On her comeback from injury, Caitlin Clark led the Indiana Fever to a 102-88 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday, scoring a season-high 32 points and matching a career-high seven three-pointers.

After missing the previous five games due to a left quad injury, this was the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year's first appearance in three weeks. However, she quickly picked up where she left off, scoring 25 points in the first half.

She finished with 32 points, three less than the 35 she scored against the Dallas Wings in September of last year, making it the second-highest total she has ever scored in a WNBA game. She tied her career high of seven three-pointers against the Washington Mystics in June 2024.

After Saturday's game, she remarked of her three-point attempts, "My highest I have ever made in a game was twelve, that was in high school!" "They forfeited their right to allow us to shoot threes tonight."

"I believe we really took advantage of what they were giving us, because we made 17 of them," Clark, who also had eight rebounds and nine assists against New York, continued. "That is what you have to do when you play very talented teams."

A franchise-high 17 threes in 35 attempts (48.6%) were made by Indiana, who went 2-3 sans Clark and is at 5-5 overall. Kelsey Mitchell scored 22 points, while Sydney Colson, Lexie Hull, and Aliyah Boston also scored in double figures.

The Fever have scored ten or more points for the first time this season.

It is New York's first loss of the season. The setback occurred even though Sabrina Ionescu scored a season-high 34 points and Breanna Stewart scored 24 points, making the reigning champions just the fourth team in WNBA history to start a season with 10 straight wins.

The Liberty jumped out to an early 11-point lead, but in the last three minutes of the first quarter, Clark grabbed over. He converted a three-point play and then made three-pointers on three straight possessions to equalize the score.

After New York started the second half with a 9-0 run, the Fever, who had led 53-50 at the interval, fell behind once more. However, Indiana took over after that, going on a massive 19-0 run in the third quarter before Mitchell's 10 points in the fourth helped seal the victory.

Fever head coach Stephanie White praised Clark's contribution, asking, "Do not we usually expect that kind of game from Caitlin?"
