According to her book's publisher, former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre left the Democratic Party.

Americans are being urged to "embrace life as independents" by former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who served under two Democratic presidents and had one of the most prominent positions in the Biden administration.

This fall, former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will publish a book that urges reconsideration of the two-party system and offers a detailed analysis of President Biden's choice to not seek reelection.

According to Legacy Lit, a Hachette Book Group imprint that will release "Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines" on October 21, Jean-Pierre herself has changed her affiliation to independent after working in two Democratic administrations.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Jean-Pierre, the first Black woman and out lesbian person to serve as White House press secretary, stated, "Until January 20, I was responsible for speaking on behalf of the President of the United States."

I became a private citizen at noon on that day, and like all Americans and many of our international allies, I had to face the future of our nation. I came to the conclusion that we must break free from boxes in order to confront the threat we face as a nation. We must be prepared to use our capacity for strategic planning and creative thought.

Jean-Pierre, 50, was a key adviser during Biden's successful 2020 campaign and served as deputy press secretary before taking over as press secretary in 2022 from Jen Psaki. She served as a regional political director during the first term of President Barack Obama.

At times, Jean-Pierre faced criticism for his lack of clarity regarding Biden's health. She will walk readers "through the three weeks that led to Biden's abandoning his bid for a second term and the betrayal by the Democratic Party that led to his decision," according to Legacy Lit its statement on Wednesday.

According to the announcement, "She offers impassioned perspective for moving forward and presents clear arguments and provocative facts as an insider about the significance of removing the stream of disinformation and misinformation that has been rampant in recent elections."

One of the rare books written by a former White House press secretary to garner media attention may be Jean-Pierre's. In his 2008 best-selling book "What Happened," Scott McLellan, who served as President George W. Bush's press secretary from 2003 to 2006, made headlines for his criticism of Bush and other administration officials.
