Trump offers a fresh warning and orders strikes against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

"Overwhelming lethal force" will be used until Iranian-backed Houthi rebels stop attacking ships along a crucial maritime corridor, according to President Donald Trump, who said he ordered a series of airstrikes on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, on Saturday. Thirteen civilians were murdered, according to the Houthis.

In a social media post, Trump stated, "To defend American maritime, air, and naval assets, and to restore Navigational Freedom, our courageous Warfighters are currently conducting aerial attacks against the terrorists’ bases, commanders, and missile defenses." "No terrorist organization will prevent American commercial and navy ships from freely traversing the world's waterways."

Additionally, he threatened to hold Iran "totally responsible" for the activities of its proxy and cautioned the country to cease aiding the rebel organization. Two weeks prior, the U.S. leader had written to Iranian leaders outlining a plan for resuming bilateral discussions about Iran's developing nuclear weapons program. Trump has declared that he will not permit it to go into effect.
The rebels' stronghold on the Saudi Arabian border, the northern province of Saada, and Sanaa both saw explosions on Saturday night, according to the Houthis. Online photos displayed dark smoke plumes over the Sanaa airport complex, which includes a large military installation.
