Duke's Cooper Flagg leaves game with ankle injury, ruled out

Flagg was helped off the court and later seen being taken to the X-ray room in a wheelchair at halftime. However, he returned to the bench under his own power early in the second half, though the team confirmed he would not re-enter the game.

The injury occurred when Flagg went up for an uncontested rebound and appeared to land his left foot on Georgia Tech's Darrion Sutton, causing him to crash to the floor. At the time, Duke trailed 26-17 late in the first half.

Flagg, the ACC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, limped back to the bench in visible pain, then bent over with his hands on the seats before pounding a chair with his right fist in frustration.

After a few minutes on the bench, he was helped to the locker room by two teammates for further evaluation. The Blue Devils also lost Maliq Brown to a shoulder injury in the first half, with the team ruling him out as well.

Duke entered the game as the projected No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament after claiming the top spot in the rankings this week. The Blue Devils had won eight straight games leading up to the ACC tournament.

During the regular season, Flagg averaged 19.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists for Duke (28-3).
