Later this year, American Express plans to make significant changes to its Platinum Cards® for consumers and businesses in the United States.

Today, American Express (NYSE: AXP) announced significant changes to its Platinum Cards® for consumers and businesses in the United States that will take place later this year. The business is investing more than ever before in a Card revamp with these upgrades.

"We launched the Platinum Card over 40 years ago, and we still provide Platinum Cards with worldwide servicing, exclusive perks, and experiences that our Card Members like," stated Howard Grosfield, Group President, U.S. Consumer Services. The advantages and features of the Platinum Card appeal to all age groups, but especially to Millennials and Gen Z, who made up 35% of all U.S. consumer purchasing in the most recent quarter. In order to satisfy our clients' changing needs, we plan to elevate these cards above their current state in terms of their appearance and feel as well as the travel, dining, and leisure perks they provide.

American Express has access to more than 1,550 lounges in more than 500 airports worldwide, more than any other credit card issuer on the market*. In the upcoming year, the company plans to open three more Centurion Lounges worldwide: in Newark, New Jersey; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Tokyo, Japan, increasing the total to 32.

American Express is still making investments in its tailored hotel and dining programs. Resy is a strong network under American Express that offers reservations at over 20,000 restaurants across 30 countries. With the recent acquisition of Tock, the platform will now include 7,000 restaurants, vineyards, and venues. The Hotel Collection and Fine Hotels + Resorts® have 2,600 carefully chosen hotels and are constantly adding hundreds more in well-known areas. Fine Hotels + Resorts is the only credit card issuer program that guarantees a 4:00 p.m. late check-out in more than 1,600 locations across the globe.

American Express, a leader in the premium business card market, also intends to modernize the Business Platinum Card to give Cardholders more perks that will support the expansion of their businesses. Members of the Business Platinum Card have access to virtual cards, generous rewards on business expenses, a flexible spending limit that changes depending on past purchases, payments, and credit history, as well as business and travel incentives and cash flow management tools. Members of the Business Platinum Card are also eligible for the hotel, dining, and lounge perks.

With the strong support of award-winning worldwide service and digital capabilities, American Express also provides access to exclusive experiences both domestically and internationally, ranging from motor sports and tennis to music festivals and athletic events. As part of the Platinum Card revamp, American Express intends to reveal further partnerships with top brands.

In the fall, the corporation will provide more information.
