REDMOND, WA — Nintendo unveiled a brand-new 3D action-platforming adventure starring Donkey Kong in today’s Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, revealing exciting new gameplay, mechanics, and characters set to arrive exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, 2025.

Titled Donkey Kong Bananza, the game teams up the iconic Kong with a surprising new partner: Pauline, who now goes by the nickname Odd Rock, a gifted singer with mysterious powers. Together, they must journey through the depths of the Underground World in search of golden bananas, battling enemies, solving puzzles, and unleashing music-infused chaos along the way.

A Transformative Adventure

The game begins on Ingot Isle, where a discovery of golden bananas sends Donkey Kong plummeting into an underground world after a sudden storm. There, he meets Pauline, and the two set out on a quest to reach the Planet Core, which is said to grant wishes. For DK, that wish is simple: more bananas.

Musical Mayhem and Transformations

Pauline’s singing powers allow Donkey Kong to temporarily transform into different versions of himself using energy called Bananergy. These include:

Kong Bananza – Boosts strength.
Zebra Bananza – Enhances speed and short dashes.
Ostrich Bananza – Allows flight and egg-bomb drops.

Dynamic Co-Op Gameplay

Players can share a Joy-Con 2 controller to team up in local co-op mode. GameShare lets you play with another local player even if they don’t own the game, while GameChat** offers online voice and video chat functionality.
