🎬 Channing Tatum & Kirsten Dunst Fall in Love in Wild New Film 'Roofman' — Watch the Trailer
Get ready for a love story like no other — set inside a toy store.
Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Roofman, a crime drama starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst as two unlikely lovers caught in the middle of a manhunt. Directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine), the film is inspired by the real-life escapades of Jeffrey Manchester, a former Army Ranger turned fugitive.
Tatum plays Jeffrey, who earns the nickname “Roofman” after robbing several McDonald’s by breaking in through their roofs. After landing in prison, he escapes and begins living secretly in a Toys “R” Us, roller-skating through aisles, eating candy, and sleeping in back rooms — all while evading authorities.
Things take a turn when Jeffrey meets Leigh, played by Dunst — a store employee and recently divorced mom. The two begin a surprising connection that complicates Jeffrey’s life on the run. The trailer teases their unusual bond, hinting at emotional depth and moments of levity in the midst of chaos.
“I was never very good at life,” Jeffrey says in voiceover. “Kind of like I was not good at hurting people.”
The film also stars an impressive ensemble including:
- LaKeith Stanfield
- Juno Temple
- Peter Dinklage
- Ben Mendelsohn
- Melonie Diaz
- Uzo Aduba
- Lily Collias
- Jimmy O. Yang
Cianfrance co-wrote the script with Kirt Gunn, and both he and Tatum serve as executive producers. The tone of Roofman blends crime, romance, and a touch of dark comedy, offering a fresh perspective on redemption and second chances.
The trailer shows Jeffrey spying on Leigh through security cameras, attending a toy drive after her boss turns her down, and donating stolen toys in a heartfelt attempt to connect. As their relationship grows, Jeffrey considers abandoning his escape plans to stay with her — but can love outlast the law?
Tatum, fresh off roles in Fly Me to the Moon and Blink Twice, is also set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Dunst returns after 2024’s Civil War and 2021’s Oscar-nominated The Power of the Dog.
🎥 Roofman hits theaters October 10, 2025.
